Justin Leonard Wins Dominion Energy Charity Classic with Clutch Eagle! (2025)

Talk about clutch! Justin Leonard delivered an absolutely stunning performance when it mattered most, securing victory at the Dominion Energy Charity Classic. This wasn't just any win; it was a nail-biting finish that had everyone on the edge of their seats! Leonard's incredible eagle on the final hole of the tournament was the defining moment.

The veteran golfer, at 53 years young, saved his fifth eagle of the season for the perfect time. He masterfully navigated the Country Club of Virginia course, culminating in a final round score of 4-under 68. This stellar performance propelled him to a final score of 12 under, ultimately clinching the win.

But here's where it gets controversial... Ernie Els, who led the pack heading into the final round, experienced a rollercoaster of emotions. Els finished with an even par round. With only two holes remaining, he was tied with Leonard at 12 under. However, a bogey on the 17th hole shifted the momentum. Els then had a chance to tie Leonard with a birdie putt on the 18th, but unfortunately, his attempt missed.

This victory marks Leonard's second PGA Tour Champions win this season. Earlier in the year, he also took home the title at the Chubb Classic in February. Adding to his accomplishments, Leonard has climbed eight spots to secure the ninth position in the Charles Schwab Cup standings.

And this is the part most people miss... The Dominion Energy Charity Classic was the first playoff event, which means the competition is heating up! Only the top 54 players in the Schwab Cup standings will advance to the Simmons Bank Championship. Scott Parel, who finished in a tie for 21st place this week, managed to break into the top 54, knocking David Bransdon out of contention.

After the Simmons Bank Championship, the field will narrow even further, with only the top 36 players qualifying for the Charles Schwab Cup Championship.
