Very strange ideas, indeed, particularly the one about the footballers moving into Leinster. I’m sure Kerry would oppose that, anyway!

Dublin suffers the Cork problem in reverse; even good hurlers want to play football there. Maybe they should allow dual players at senior again?

Wearing a different football jersey is an interesting one. Playing home football games in Pairc Ui Rinn – at least the leagues. I remember packed crowds against the Dubs there and even the Dubs enjoyed the experience. It’s a good grounds. I remember only one inter-county game being called off there because of the weather and that was a hurling match!

The team for tomorrow evening v Limerick is exactly the same as the listed team v Cavan but we have three new subs Sean Powter, Tommy Walsh and Maurice Shanley.
Out go Jacob O Driscoll, Hugh Murphy and Luke Fahy.

Can't see any streaming so it looks like another stop start effort by C103.
I hope Keaveney is on holiday and John Cashman is on the mike.
Keaveney is up there with Fitzmaurice in the 'rosary' brigade.

A win without any injuries being picked up is about as positive you can say about that. Very lethargic performance overall, in truth it didn't need to be any more that that following the (somewhat harsh imo) red card for Limerick. That crowd won't be quaking in their boots anyway after it.

Was a decent enough game when it was 15 v 15, Limerick playing against the wind were doing really well at holding possession and were finding gaps relatively easily to score. That said, you felt Cork had an extra gear when needed and should've buried a couple of goal chances in this period. Played well for about 10 minutes either side of the red card and the game was as good as over then. The second half performance was a lesson in how not to use an extra man - if some punter had wandered in at half time they'd have had to be very astute to even notice Limerick were a man down.

I'm not sure I'd read massively into this game, but the stats men will probably be worried at the kickouts won and turnovers won metrics. Midfield after a couple of dominant showings to close out the league were second best here. Maguire was constantly being held by Tommie Childs but they weren't 'fouly' enough to blown. Callaghan and Paul Walsh I can scarcely recall catching clean possession all game. Ruairi Deane was once again one of the more impressive performers when he came on and I'd start him ahead of the former in a fortnight. On turnovers - Limerick seemed to be able to get shots off (particularly when 15 v 15) far too easily, we defend very deep and better players will exploit that.

Powter came on at centre back and did some nice things but the game was really lacking much intensity at this point. He came through unscathed so I imagine he'll start ahead of McSweeney at 11, who gets through some excellent work but I fear his lack of pace would be exposed against Kerry. O'Driscoll got a couple of 2 pointers once again and was the best player on the night for breaking the line, he did some daft things as well admittedly but he steps up to take on shots when others prefer to handpass. None of the full forward line really sparkled although Hurley kicked one beauty for 2 points.

I don't think this team will beat Kerry, or come particularly close to doing so, but if the objective tonight was to win while keeping an absolute lid on things then I suppose it was mission successful. Interest was probably already going to be low given the hurlers are out the same weekend, but there won't be many who'll hop on the bandwagon following tonight either. Might be as well off - long grass and all that.

You are spot on Tipp. Fitzmaurice on TSG last night was so full of praise for the new game
that he said the format now is dead simple.
By Mayo beating Sligo by 3 points it means that if Kerry only beat Cork by 10 the score difference
between Sligo and Roscommon will make no difference as if Louth beat Meath by 4 points that result
will make no difference either if Clare beat Kerry by 4 in the Munster final.

Gimme a break.

Westmeath currently beating Kildare in the Leinster championship at Halftime by a point

Amongst other games tomorrow and Louth play Laois and Meath play Offaly

Tiernan is our man on Saturday evening and it looks like he upset a Biffo back in 2023.
No doubt he'll favour that crowd but I'm colour blind.
