What this plugin does

Chargeback uses your WooCommerce order information to quickly craft comprehensive and compelling chargeback responses for your merchant account processor and acquiring bank. Chargeback will pull all of the data it needs for each dispute you receive and submit the response to your merchant account processor.

This plugin allows Chargeback to:

  • Cancel orders and block shipments purchased with stolen cards
  • Recover revenue lost to the fraudulent and accidental use of chargeback rights by your customers
  • Provide reporting and analytics used to prevent fraud and improve operations

How this plugin works

This plugin uses the WooCommerce REST API to gather compelling evidence for chargeback responses and to cancel orders flagged for fraud by Issuing Banks.

Note: You must have an account with Chargeback for this plugin to work and you must connect your payment service provider(s) to your Chargeback account.

Minimum Requirements

  • WooCommerce 2.6 or greater
  • WooCommerce REST API Enabled
  • WordPress 3.8 or greater

Install from your WordPress Admin

From the Main Nav go to Plugins. In the search field type “Chargeback” and click Search Plugins. Once you’ve found the official Chargeback plugin click “Install Now”.

Manual installation

The manual installation method involves downloading the Chargeback plugin and uploading it to your webserver via an FTP application. The WordPress codex contains instructions on how to do this here.

Connect Your Chargeback Account

After you've installed the plugin visit the Chargeback plugin's settings on the Plugin page or use the Main Admin Nav to to browse to Settings >> Chargeback >> Settings

  1. Connect your Chargeback account or create a new one. If you already have a Chargeback account, follow the link to LOGIN OR CREATE YOUR CHARGEBACK ACCOUNT and input your username and password. If you do not have a Chargeback account, follow the link to LOGIN OR CREATE YOUR CHARGEBACK ACCOUNT and simply fill out the short form.
  2. After you login or create a new account you will be redirected back to your WordPress Admin while your WooCommerce store and your Chargeback account sync.
  3. After your WooCommerce store and your Chargeback account sync you will be redirected to your Chargeback account to connect more Data Sources. If you’re not automatically redirected follow the link to go to your Chargeback account.
  4. Connect your store’s other Data Sources to Chargeback. **NOTE: You must connect your store’s Payment Service Provider(s) for Chargeback to work.

Chargeback specializes in post-transaction fraud management. This service prevents the fulfillment of goods and services that were purchased fraudulently and automates the recovery of revenue lost to customer disputes.

Is this service free?

Chargeback monitoring and basic KPI's are free. You don't need to connect WooCommerce for that but you should because it will enable more free reporting and more KPI's. You must add your payment service provider(s) in the Data Sources of the Chargeback App for free monitoring and basic reporting. How much do the premium services cost?

Responses for WooCommerce customers are billed on a recovered revenue. You only pay when we successfully win your revenue back from the dispute. The fee is 20% of recovered revenue. For example, if a customer disputes a $100 purchase their bank immediately pulls the funds from your next merchant account settlement. When we get that reversed and see that the bank has pushed the $100 back into your merchant account we bill you $20. Depending on your processor this will often get the initial chargeback fee they charged you reversed as well!

Alerts for WooCommerce provide critical time to cancel orders, stop shipments and deactivate gift cards as well as protection against a high chargeback ratio. When issuers notify us of impending chargebacks before it hits the Card Network (Visa,MC,Amex,Discover) we can process a refund and effectively end the dispute before it becomes a chargeback. Combined with intercepting orders this is very useful for minimizing fraud expenses.

How do I manage my Chargeback account

Log-in to your chargeback account at https://chargeback.com. You will manage all of your settings including billing, team members, reporting and services there.

How do I delete this plugin

You can delete this plugin from your WordPress Admin area or you can manually remove the plugin with an FTP client. To revoke API access to your WooCommerce store visit Settings > API > Keys/Apps and revoke Chargeback.
